🏷️ Meta Tags Analyzer

Check any page's title tag, meta description, canonical URL and robots directives for length and SEO issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Meta Tags Analyzer really free?

Yes — unlimited use, no signup, no credit card. We built these tools to help you audit sites without paying for a data subscription.

Does this tool store or share the URLs I check?

No. Each check runs live and we don't save your input. We keep a short-lived rate-limit counter (by IP) purely to prevent abuse; it is not linked to your results.

How accurate are the results?

This tool reads live, public data directly from the page or domain you enter — it does not rely on a paid third-party database, so it reflects exactly what is publicly visible right now.

Your title tag and meta description are the first thing a searcher sees in Google's results — before they ever visit your site, before they read a word of your content. Get them wrong (too long, missing, duplicated, or just not compelling) and you lose clicks you've already earned through ranking. This tool pulls the actual title, meta description, canonical URL, and robots directive straight from a page's HTML, exactly as a search engine would see them, and flags anything outside recommended length ranges.

How to Use This Tool

Paste the full URL of the page you want to check, including https://, and click Analyze Page. The tool fetches the live page and parses its <head> section — there's nothing to configure.

What This Tool Checks

The <title> tag and its character length, the meta description tag and its length, the canonical URL (if one is declared), the meta robots directive (index/noindex, follow/nofollow), the number of H1 tags on the page, and whether a mobile viewport meta tag is present.

Understanding Your Results

Titles are flagged if they're under 30 or over 60 characters — Google typically truncates titles beyond roughly 60 characters (this varies by pixel width, not a strict character count, so treat 60 as a guideline). Descriptions follow the same logic around 70–160 characters. A missing title or description is flagged as an error, not just a warning, since Google will otherwise generate its own snippet from page content — usually a worse one than you'd write yourself.

How to Fix Common Problems

If your title or description is missing or too long, edit it directly in your CMS (in WordPress, most SEO plugins add a field for this under each post/page, or you can edit it directly in the <head> if you're hand-coding). Keep your primary keyword near the front of the title. If you see more than one H1, change the extra ones to H2 or lower — a page should have exactly one H1 that describes its main topic.

SEO Best Practices

Write titles and descriptions for humans first, keywords second — a title that promises something specific and useful earns more clicks than one stuffed with keywords. Every page on your site should have a unique title and description; duplicates confuse search engines about which page to rank for a given query.

Example

A product page titled "Home" with no meta description will show Google-generated snippet text pulled from the page body — often not the most compelling summary. Rewriting the title to "Wireless Noise-Cancelling Headphones | YourBrand" and adding a description that mentions price, key features, and a reason to click will typically improve click-through rate even without a ranking change.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Don't keyword-stuff the title into unreadable nonsense — Google's systems are good at detecting this and it won't help. Don't leave the same title/description on every page (a common WordPress default-theme mistake). Don't confuse the meta description with a ranking factor — it doesn't directly affect rankings, but it strongly affects whether people click your (already-ranking) result.
