🔍 Find & Replace Tool

Find and replace text within a block of content — case-sensitive or case-insensitive, with an exact match count.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this support regular expressions?

No — it's a literal string find-and-replace by design, so it's predictable for non-technical users. For regex, use your code editor's built-in Find & Replace with regex mode enabled.

Is the search case-sensitive?

Yes. If you need to replace all variants (e.g. "Chicago" and "chicago"), run the tool once for each casing.

Is my text uploaded?

No — every replacement runs in your browser.

The Find & Replace tool performs a straightforward text substitution across a block of text: every occurrence of one string becomes another. Use it to standardise a term across a long document, fix a misspelled brand name in a bulk export, swap a placeholder token in a template, or normalise separators in a delimited file. It replaces literal strings only — no regular expressions — which makes it predictable and safe for non-technical users.

How to Use This Tool

Paste your text into the input box, type the string you want to find, type what to replace it with, and press Replace. Every occurrence is substituted in one pass. Leaving the replacement box empty deletes every occurrence of the search string.

SEO Best Practices

Always paste your text somewhere safe first — a Find & Replace is easy to run but hard to undo if you replace the wrong thing. Search for a distinctive substring, not a common word: replacing every "the" is almost never what you want. For case-insensitive replacement or pattern matching (any digit, any word), use your code editor's Find & Replace with regex mode instead — this tool is deliberately literal.

Example

Swapping "{{city}}" for "Chicago" across a landing-page template renders every placeholder in one pass, ready to paste into a page builder.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Don't replace inside a string that also contains the replacement text — replacing "foo" with "foobar" in a document that already has "foobar" is fine (it becomes "foobarbar"), but chaining unusual replacements can produce surprising results. Don't use literal replace on data with structural characters (HTML tags, JSON delimiters) unless you're sure the search string can't occur inside a tag.
